IS BEING A VOICE ACTOR WORTHY?
We all know that voice actors are usually paid well, but it all depends on what and to whom the voice has been given. You might not believe but when a voice actor works in a cartoon or movie, they are paid way more. However, in the gaming industry, the pay scale is comparatively lower. Although video games make millions of dollars but the voice actors aren’t given their fair share. For decades, the pay scale was extremely low with no residuals. Nonetheless, after SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) things have changed a bit.
Before, the rates really weren’t fixed and every other voice actor was paid differently. But now, the rules are stronger than ever. But, if you want a stable financial life then it is visible that being a game voice actor can only be counted for passive income. Here are the current rates by SAG-AFTRA:
- $478.50 for one voice/one hour
- $956.75 for up to three voices/four-hour day
- $1,914.25 for 6-10 voices/6-hour day

His work is so special and we all have heard him in many of the DC games and most of them have Mark Hamill as Joker. Yep, the voice of Joker in the games is by Mark Hamill (mostly). He is notorious for roles like The Joker (Arkham Asylum) and Master Eraqus (Kingdom Hearts). People often say that Hamill is the best Joker up till now.
Nolan North
There are very few people in the voice acting industry who have been as successful as Nolan North. Have you played the game “Uncharted”? The hero of the game, Nathan Drake has been played by Nolan and we have to say that the job has been done impeccably. OMG! There is hardly anyone in the gaming industry who doesn’t know Jen Taylor! Well, it has been years since she has been in the industry, but her best work is indeed her playing as Cortana the vixen in Halo 4. No one, absolutely no one could have played this role with as much finesse as Jen has achieved in it. You know what’s so great about it? Cortana was a machine (robot) but Jen made sure that her voice portrayed emotions. Other than that, she has given voice to Princess Peach in Super Mario games too. What a contrast of characters, yet Jen aced them all!
Grey DeLisle Griffin
Would you believe it if we told you that Grey DeLisle Griffin has voiced over 100 characters up till now? Her profile includes cartoons, movies, and game characters too. She has been Mystique in X-Men: Legends, Catwoman in the Arkham games, Captain Marvel in Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, and Nassana Dantius in Mass Effect. Her work is marvelous and indeed she has set a bar high enough for all voice actors. We wish to have more of her talent flaunted in video games for sure.
